Today we took a bus tour of the Battle Field at Gettysburg. It is hard to imagine so many men and the blood that was shed here.
Becky was met with a stranger and President Lincoln. This statue is his actual size. He was very tall and polite with his tip of his hat.
We also visited the Diorama exhibit, our campground gave us free tickets.
Becky wanted to ride the horse, but he would not move.
The Diorama is a miniature of the battle field. All 6600 acres
It was very interesting and help to understand the locations of the battle that took 3 days.
After day one the Confederates won the battle, but many losses.
Day two and three the Union army won. In total there were about 51000 casualties.
They use this buggy to give tours. It looked old, but it had disc brakes and air suspension.
The battle at Little round top was fierce.
The Cyclorama was amazing, you could spend hours looking at all of the details. Cycloramas were very popular in the late 1800's. The one here was painted in 1884.This is a funeral wagon.
Tweety had a friend at the campground, a Casita from New York and they had us over to enjoy their fire and conversation . Our campground was a mile from Gettysburg and about half a mile from the visitor's center. We would recommend camping here especially is you have Passport America
